Eagle Place ON
Outdoor activities, cultural diversity, wonderful restaurants, kayaking, fishing, bike trails and affordable real estate.
During the second world war, Brantford suffered from a serious housing shortage. Between the years 1941 and 1947, homes were built in various parts of the city for returning veterans by the wartime housing Corporation. Many of these homes were built on land in Eagle place on streets that were just numbered i.e. Fifth, Sixth and Seventh and so on, because this housing was originally intended to be nonpermanent housing. After the war, the veterans and munitions workers were given the first opportunity to purchase their dwellings. Today these homes still sit proudly as a reminder of Brantford's war time years.
A few places of historical significance are located in the Eagle Place neighbourhood.
The Woodland Cultural Center which was built in October 1972 houses wonderful examples of Indian art and first Nations art and serves as a day trip location for local children to learn about Brantford's rich native heritage. Located on Mohawk Street is the oldest church in Ontario dating back to 1785 called her Majesty's Chapel of the Mohawks otherwise known locally as Mohawk Chapel. This quaint little church still offers services during the summer months and has been host to many weddings.
The types of housing varies in Eagle Place you can have beautiful two storey detached homes to smaller bungalows and semi's. We have seen over the years many of the houses that were originally large single family residences converted to multi-plex units. The lot sizes tend to be average for the town of Brantford ranging around 40 ft wide to approximately 100 ft deep. Many buyers are attracted to this area due to the economical price point and close proximity to the downtown core. Many amenities are located nearby including shopping and transit as well as easy access to the Grand River walking trails.
